Bob Yamada

Water Resources Manager, San Diego County Water Authority

Mr. Yamada is the Water Resources Planning Manager for the San Diego County Water Authority. The Water Authority is the regional water agency that provides about 90 percent of all the water used in San Diego County, supporting a $171 billion economy and quality of life for 3 million residents.

He oversees water supply and facility planning for the Water Authority. He currently leads the Water Authority's drought response effort. He is responsible for regional water supply planning including local water supply development programs, regional water demand forecasting, Capital Improvement Program facility planning and desalination support and planning.

Mr. Yamada has been with the Authority since 1992. Prior to that, he worked as a civil engineering consultant for 8 years. He holds bachelors and masters degrees in civil engineering from San Diego State University, and is a registered civil engineer in California. Mr. Yamada is a past president of the American Membrane Technology Association (AMTA), a national organization dedicated to advancing the use of membrane technology for water treatment. He resides in Bonita.
