Discussion Topic |
| "What is the current investment
landscape for renewable energy and how is this landscape changing in
the future?" |
Background Information |
| Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) are currently
revolutionizing the clean energy landscape, especially in California,
where there is a goal to have 20% “renewable energy” by 2010.
Currently, incentive plans through a diverse array of tax credits are
available to developers, financers, utilities and other technology
players. Given the disappearance of the tax equity market during the
current financial crisis, what are the alternative financing options
available for renewable energy projects? To stimulate the build-out of
future renewable energy projects, alternative financing options such as
equity investment by utilities, “cap-and-trade” mechanisms, and “carbon
tax” must be investigated. |
