Dr. Timothy Bertch

Deputy to the Senior Vice President, Energy Group,
General Atomics

Timothy Bertch is the Deputy to the Senior Vice President of General Atomics’ Energy Group.  This organization has 4 business areas: Fission, centered on the Modular Helium Reactor; Magnetic Fusion Energy, primarily using the D-IIID Tokamak reactor; Inertial Fusion, as the primary ICF target supplier to the Department of Energy; and Photonics, which provides leading edge Laser, Optical Sensor and UWB communications products.
 
Prior to working for General Atomics, Dr. Bertch worked as the Director Metropolitan Wastewater for the City of San Diego and Lockheed Martin as a software development manager.  He also completed a career in the Navy Nuclear Power program, including nuclear submarine command. He has a BS from the U.S. Naval Academy, MS from the University of Connecticut and PhD in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Maryland.
